Kirsten was born in Waco Texas, and grew up in an Air Force family that moved from coast-to-coast and spent three years in Germany. Eventually her family settled in the Tacoma area. She graduated from the University of Washington and was able to use her Art and Art History degree in the rapidly growing software industry. She worked as an illustrator for Microsoft training materials and continued to work part-time while raising her 2 children in Index, Washington. While in Index, her family participated in an innovative and exceptional public school. Kirsten joined the school board and was chairman until the family moved to their current home, a renovated school house in Loomis.
Since moving to Okanogan county in 2005, Kirsten has been involved with the Tonasket Friends of the Library, the Loomis Community Club, was an officer and President of the Tonasket Athletic Booster club, and was involved with multiple Tonasket school levy and bond campaigns. She also volunteered for 6 years as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA).
With two kids in college, she and her husband travel as often as they can, and take care of their cats, dogs, horses and llama. A life-long democrat, she only recently became publicly involved in politics.
